Bea’s Pink Collages

**Benefitting Breast Cancer Awareness**

In 2007 I had the unforgettable experience of sitting at a dear friend’s bed side in her home while she clung to life, fighting breast cancer valiantly.  She was aware I was with her, but she wasn’t able to communicate other than a murmur and squeeze of my hand.  While I did my best to be brave, I could hardly hold it together as I thought of the vibrant woman she once was and how unfair it was that breast cancer had taken that away from her.  That afternoon was to be the last time I’d spend time with her, she died on a Sunday in October.

Since then I’ve seen family members and friends touched by breast cancer. I am thrilled that several have conquered it – so beautifully, so gracefully, so incredibly inspiring!  It’s wonderful that beating breast cancer can be done, but there’s a lot of work to be done to find a cure and eradicate it.

Last year, I had my own scary experience.  I found a rather large lump in my right breast and had to have an ultra sound and needle-core biopsy.  The fear, waiting for the test results, and the “unknown” were terrifying, however it was benign.  Fortunately.

If you know me well, you know that when I’m struggling with something, I turn to art and crafting.  It’s how I press the pause button on my stresses, find ways to express myself and eventually heal whatever situation I’m struggling with.  I’ve made a commitment to help others do the same – which is why I started Bea Creativeish.

So naturally, I turned to art when I thought to myself that I wanted to do something for this year’s Breast Cancer awareness month.  Something more than just wearing a pink ribbon.

For the month of October I will be creating pink themed collages, and offering them for purchase, with a part of the proceeds going to Susan G. Komen at the end of the month.  Collages will be rotated up through this page throughout the entire month of October, so if you don’t see one you love yet, keep checking.

Consider choosing a collage to honor someone who has gone through the fight – or someone who IS going through the fight!  Each 6″x6″ collage is unique, one of a kind, and features vintage beads and buttons.

At the end of the month I will post the amount raised for Susan G Komen – let’s make a difference together!  Available collages start from the top:
